I have been waiting my whole life to tell this story.
After two and a half years of searching for a compelling story to capture, a "side project" so to speak, I'm turning the lens on my own life.
I've known that I was adopted for as long as I can remember.
It was a page I'd left long unturned - something I viewed as finished.
Several years ago, I got in contact with my birth mother. Since that time, our relationship has grown in ways I never could have imagined.
I realized towards the end of last year that it's time for me to go meet her (and the rest of my family).
We live on opposite coasts. Me in the District of Columbia, her in Seattle, Washington.
In April I will travel cross-country by train to meet her for the first time.
This is an invitation to join me as I plunge into a new life and an unfamiliar family. It's going to be euphoric at times, rocky at others. Either way, it's bound to shake things up.
